Sofia visits with Lupe Kaawaloa, Independent Living Coordinator at the Southern Nevada Center for Independent Living (SNCIL), to talk about how the organization empowers people with disabilities to live independently and navigate housing options.

She also meets Roman, a young man on the autism spectrum, who shares his dream of becoming a nurse and living on his own. He talks about the steps he’s taking toward those goals—and his experience attending the National Council on Independent Living’s 2023 Annual Conference, made possible by a scholarship from SNCIL.
